柳川芳命さんとめぐのデュオシリーズ第3期 ’After It’s Gone’ の、自粛要請期間中につくったデュオ作品集です。
演奏会の中止延期が相次ぐ中、デュオとして何が出来るか考えました。スタジオに入ることはままなりませんし、自宅では生ドラムの演奏を満足には出来ません。そこで、手に入れたばかりの中谷達也さん作成のパーカッション弓を練習すると共に、パーカッション、小物、身の回りにあるものだけで、どれだけあらわせるかの実験をしようと思いました。「ドラムセットを封印した上で、何ができるか」を、作品を作る際のマイルールとしました。
柳川さん先行、めぐ先行と1日おきにソロを録音し、相方に送る。そのソロを聴きながら演奏、録音。（必ず初聴で。）それらを柳川さんにミックスしていただく。このプロセスを3週間、21日連続で行いました。その中で時系列に択んだものが、この４つのかたまりです。
新しい音を探す日々、決して飽きることはありませんでした。また、中谷さんの弓で、音の出そうなものはなんでも擦ってみました。思わぬ音が飛び出したり、まるで人間の声のように聞こえたり…。この有機的な試みもまた、刺激的なことでした。
いつもマスタリングをお願いしているNioさんが、生き生きとしたマスタリングを施してくださっています。今が旬の、作品集だと思います。聴いていただけましたら幸いです。（リンクにて試聴可能です。）
During this self-quarantine, Yanagawa-san and Meg wondered what we could do as a duo. These are the works we created during the period of staying at home.
We did it this way ; One recorded a solo tune and sent it to the other, who played listening to the solo and recorded it. We did it alternately for 21 days in a row. And Yanagawa-san mixed the two individual recordings.
Talking about Meg, the housing situation doesn’t allow her to play the drums at home, so Meg made it a rule to play the percussions and gadgets around her, mainly using the bow created by Mr. Tatsuya Nakatani, percussionist living in the U.S. It was kind of a challenge to explore new sounds without using a drum kit.
We have always been thinking about what we could do RIGHT NOW. In this sense, this quarantine gave us the opportunity to come up with such works.
